Smartphones are set to overtakes feature phones by 2011 in the USA.

Since the release of the iPhone, the smartphone market has exploded. A whole new industry of mobile apps has been created and more and more organisations are looking to connect with their customers over mobile.

We are just at the beginning of a new wireless era where smartphones will become the standard device consumers will use to connect to friends, the internet and the world at large.

Over the past two years we’ve seen a large influx of organisations releasing mobile apps for smartphones for entertainment, utility or just a branded experience. Given the predictions from Nielsen diargram (above) and article (link below), how is your organisation preparing for this wave of change in the mobile landscape? Is your site optimised for viewing on a mobile handset? Would a branded app provide a better user experience for customers when interacting with your brand? How could you improve your customer service offering through innovation using smartphone technologies?

We’d love to hear of your progress, adventures & thoughts in the comments.
